Axis Films were proud to be present at the 2009 British Society of Cinematographers Show at Elstree Studios. This popular event was a great chance for Axis and On Sight to talk to clients about the recent joining of the two companies, as well as setting up several Si-2K, RED, P2 Varicam and tapeless XDCAM demos at both our Shepperton Studios and Soho bases.
Axis Films and On Sight's HD LAB have also recently donated HD equipment and technical services to the BSC for their 2009 Film and Digital Image Evaluation.
The BSC initiated the first of these Tests in 2007 as a result of growing concern about the restrictions being placed on DoP’s as to which of the currently available choices of cameras and formats were deemed acceptable to television broadcasters. The first series was very successful but both camera technology and film stocks have since moved on. The February 2009 tests were developed with the knowledge gained from the first series and included more cameras than before with 18 different formats shooting at Stage B and the terrace at Pinewood Studios. The picture below shows the rig where all 18 shot simultaneously for the outdoor and final part of the test.
