3D

When it comes to 3D, we have met three aims. To be at the forefront. To be best. And to make your 3D production a success.

3D camera hire experts ONSIGHT have already completed many landmark 3D projects.

These include:

3D Rugby Union Calcutta Cup match - the world's first live 3D sports broadcast

Flying Monsters 3D with David Attenborough - the first 3D BAFTA award winning programme (Atlantic Productions for Sky and IMAX)

Meerkats 3D - nominated for 'Best 3D Program' at the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival (Oxford Scientific and Principal Large Format for Sky 3D)

Plus:

VFX elements for Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides 3D & John Carter in 3D.

ONSIGHT have also conducted extensive 3D testing and R&D – all so that we can ensure your production is perfect, from shoot to screen.

Atom™ by 3ality Technica is a new breed of light weight, camera specific 3D camera platform designed from the ground up for the world’s most innovative game changing camera; Epic from RED Digital Cinema.

Atom has been optimized to take full advantage of the small form factor of the Epic while still accommodating full-sized PL and PV primes as well as smaller zooms like the Optimo 16-42 or 30-80. The result is a full 5K-3D beamsplitter system weighing as little as some 35mm camera systems.

Element Technica have applied their knowledge and innovation gained with the larger Quasar rig to the miniature Neutron 3D rig.

Robustly constructed and capable of Over/Through and Under/Through as well as Side-by-Side configurations, the rig is ideally suited to lightweight operations. Fitted with SI-2K or Cunima cameras the all-up weight can be as low as 8Kg.

Despite its small size is has full wireless control of IO and Convergence and is capable of a maximum IO distance of 88mm.

The 3ality Technica Pulsar 3D rig is designed to provide stereoscopic mounting of mid-sized high resolution digital cameras, with ENG-style or PL lenses, in a full-function 3D rig. The Pulsar can be configured in side-by-side and beamsplitter mode (both over/thru and under/thru), and can be quickly reconfigured from one mode to the other.

Among the mid-sized and box-style cameras that can be mounted on a Pulsar rig are the Scarlet, Epic, SI-2K, Sony EX3 and P1 to name a few. By allowing a production to use these smaller form-factor cameras in their productions, more portable camera support equipment such as tripods, jib-arms and miniature dollies can be utilized. The Pulsar provides the same stereoscopic control of interocular and convergence as is available on the large camera Quasar and small camera Neutron rigs, either via wired or wireless linking with the 3ality Technica Hand Controller (THC).

The Pulsar can also be interfaced with stereoscopic optimization processors such as the Sony MPE-200, which allows them to be quickly integrated into multi-camera productions.

For crane, dolly, camera car, stabilizer and handheld operation of the Pulsar, bumping and jostling are the norm. The Pulsar maintains rock-solid rigidity through its construction from aircraft-grade CNC machined aluminum as well as stainless steel and carbon fiber. The compact design of the Pulsar yields a 3D rig of the lowest possible weight.

The same small tool-kit and setup and alignment procedures are employed with all members of the 3ality Technica family of rigs, including the Pulsar. An experienced 2D assistant trained on one of the rigs can apply that knowledge to the whole family of rigs.

The Quasar’s modularity allows it to be configured as either a beamsplitter system for close work with wide lenses or alternately set up as a converging side-by-side system for use at live broadcast events with extreme focal lengths. An isolted mirror box provides exceptional rigidity and precise alignment.

3ality Technica's TS-2 restores creativity to the filmmaker. Designed by cinematographers and engineers, this fully motorized beam-splitter accommodates a variety of cameras and lenses. Whether you are shooting a feature film, sporting event, or wild gazelles on the veld, the TS-2 is your answer to quick and accurate setups, freeing you to shoot 3D on a 2D schedule. 3ality Technica’s calibration software is sophisticated, powerful and easy to navigate, providing you with matching zooms and smooth tracking for every shot. In addition, 3ality Technica’s proprietary software captures positional data every six milliseconds. You can use the metadata to integrate actual camera data into your computer generated environments seamlessly. Whatever you can imagine, 3ality Technica makes possible.

A full-size side-by-side 3D rig, 3ality Technica's fully-motorized TS-4 brings a new dimension to the world you want to capture. This is the perfect rig for capturing the fly ball, the flaming guitar solo, or that battlefield action scene. Go wide. Go deep. Use a variety of full-size cameras and lenses. The wide interaxial of the TS-4 makes sure you can capture it all. Controlled by sophisticated, powerful calibration software that is easy to navigate, you can be sure to capture the world just as you see it – and never miss a shot.

Featuring the same capabilities as 3ality Technica's full-size camera systems, the TS-5 can be used as a handheld, mounted on a Steadicam®, and fit into those tight places that won’t accommodate a larger rig. The TS-5 uses 3ality Technica's proprietary software to provide you with quick and accurate set-ups, camera alignments that stay aligned, and matching zooms and smooth tracking on every shot. And with a weight of just 22 pounds, it's easy to maneuver, ensuring that you’ll get that "money shot" every time, even in the closest of situations.

This is the smaller of the side-by-side rigs, still very rigid in design but much smaller and more suited to smaller cameras like the SI-2K or Iconix. This non-motorised passive rig still has all of the alignment tools but is small enough to be fitted to a SteadyCam, used hand-held or mounted in tight spaces such as cars or lifts where the size of the Calcutta or Mirror rig would be restrictive.

Similar to the Calcutta II (below) but without roll alignment and the need to lock-off after adjustments.

This is our larger of our side-by-side rigs, capable of taking any size of cameras and lenses. The unit is very rigid and carries the full range of very subtle alignment tools: interaxial, convergance, horizontal and roll adjustments. This is a non-motorised passive rig, which can be adjusted and locked off for each set-up.

A parallel rig developed by Inition for use with lightweight DV/HDV cameras. It is less rigid than other parallel rigs, with less accurate adjustments. It can be useful for lock-off shots and testing at reduced costs.

The Freestyle rig is designed to offer a range of creative choice for camera movement in 3D production. By using patented Carbon technology, also used for Formula 1 race cars, the best combination of load capacity, stability, form and weight was achieved.

We have the larger of the P+S rigs, capable of taking any size of camera and lens. Our rig has been rigidised to eliminate any play between the two mounted cameras, which can be an isssue (especially with larger bodies and lenses) and had extra alignment tools added. ONSIGHT's P+S Techniks Mirror rig now has a full range of camera alignment tools, including interaxial, convergence, horizontal alignment and roll alignment. We have found that no two cameras are identical and these adjustments are very useful. This unit can be motorised if required.

We have also developed prototype single plates rigs for specific shoots such as motorbike rigs and polecam. These are primarily designed and adapted on a job to job basis but please call us on 020 7637 0888 for more information.

The 3D shoulder camcorder with dual three 1/2-inch type Exmor CMOS sensors recording full HD/SD, 3D or 2D.  We are one of the few camera rental companies in the UK to have this as part of our fleet.
