On Sight had the very first Panasonic Varicam on the UK’s hire market and at NAB 2008 placed the first orders for both of the new P2 variants of this hugely popular camcorder.

The AJ-HPX2700 is an entirely new Varicam that employs new CCD and several new valuable features. The new P2 HD Varicams record onto high-capacity P2 cards using any of three codecs: AVC-Intra 100, AVC-Intra 50 or DVCPRO HD. in AVC-Intra 100 mode, you get high-quality 10 bit/4:2:2 image recording with full sampling.

The AJ-HPX2700 also supports 1080/59.94i, 1080/24p, 720/59.94p with HD multi-format recording. in 720p mode, the variable frame rate can be set anywhere from 1 fps to 60 fps (depending on the system frequency). Other image-enhancing features include Chromatic Aberration Compensation (CAC), 14-bit A/D processing, and a multi-gamma function including Film-REC.
