3D StorytellingDate: 13th March, 2012 |
As experts in 3D, we understand the essential planning and importance of quality footage to help bring our clients’ stories to life. The 3D Storytelling Conference showcases this growing format, examining the developments both technically and creatively. With this in mind, it was an easy decision for us to get involved.

3D Post Evolution with Richard Mills & John Myers – Thursday 22 March
Richard and John look at the key challenges, developments and aims in stereoscopic post production, in order to deliver quality 3D for a variety of projects. The team has recently completed the post on Madam Butterfly 3D, The Bachelor King 3D, Meerkats 3D, Peter Gabriel: New Blood Live in London (3D) and the forthcoming Kingdom of Plants 3D. As pioneers of 3D, ONSIGHT shared the IBC2011 Special Award for the innovative work on Flying Monsters 3D with David Attenborough and has a number of IMAX productions to their name.

3D Shoot Technology with Richard Mills – Friday 23 March
Here ONSIGHT’s Chief Technical Officer discusses the latest technology, focusing on high-end digital equipment and considerations for successful 3D filming. ONSIGHT has provided the shoot solution to productions, such as the BAFTA award-winning Flying Monsters 3D with David Attenborough, Meerkats 3D, The Bachelor King 3D and the upcoming Kingdom of Plants 3D.
OS 3D Plugin for FCP with John Myers – Both days
Learn about this creative tool for preparing and editing 3D files with Final Cut Pro. Produced by ONSIGHT’s Lab & Post team, the free plugin makes this offline process accessible and simple, as downloaded by industry professionals around the world. The team is also excited to be a part of an exclusive overview on The Making of Kingdom of Plants with Atlantic Productions’ CEO, Anthony Geffen and both Adam Sculthorp, Director/Senior Stereographer, and Jacquie Pepall, 3D Producer from Dimension Media. Richard Mills, CTO, and Ben McGuire, Producer, of ONSIGHT will cover the work we provided from the ground-breaking camera solution to post production.
Other interesting sessions include 3D TV – Britain as a world leader: John Cassy, Sky and BFI’s look at 3D and cinema audiences with Alex Stolz.
3D Storytelling is taking place on 22-23 March at Ravensbourne’s state-of-the-art building in North Greenwich. Produced by the staff and students in conjunction with the support of industry representatives, it is sure to be a diverse and thought-provoking event.
